Situated on the eastern shore of Lake Texoma within the state of Oklahoma, Johnson Creek Campground is a well-managed recreational area under the supervision of the Corps of Engineers.
It nestles within the Cross Timbers Region, surrounded by picturesque post and blackjack oaks. The campground is conveniently accessible from Hwy 70, slightly west of Mead, Oklahoma, with Newberry Creek Marina just about a mile away.
The campground enjoys immense popularity due to its paved sites equipped with water and electrical hookups. Among these, sites 1-17, 44, 49, 50, and 52-54 are outfitted with covered picnic tables. In addition to these, a day-use area with a group picnic shelter inclusive of electricity is available for visitors.
Essential facilities at the campground include drinking water, a dump station, flush and pit toilets, showers, and a boat ramp.
During winter, sites 41 to 55 remain operational at Johnson Creek Campground. However, shower and bathroom facilities will be out of service during this time.
While individual water hookups remain available until November 1st, the campground offers a frost-free hydrant for filling water tanks throughout the winter months after individual water hookups are turned off in October annually.
Amenities
Johnson Creek Campground is well-equipped with numerous amenities for a comfortable stay. These include a boat ramp for easy water access and an entrance station for a smooth check-in process.
The availability of drinking water and a dedicated dump station adds to the convenience of the visitors. Regarding sanitation facilities, the campground offers both flush toilets and pit toilets, along with showers for personal hygiene.
Vault toilets are also provided for additional convenience, and water facilities are available across the campground.

Things To Know
Johnson Creek Campground operates as a self-service campsite, with its entrance gates opening from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. All sites can only be reserved, and each camper must make their reservation online, by calling, or by scanning the provided QR code on site with their smartphone.
Water facilities can be found across the shower/toilet area. Please note that during the winter, the individual water hookups are turned off after November, but a frost-free hydrant is made available within the campground for filling water tanks.
To help protect the forest from tree-killing pests, campers are strongly advised to purchase their firewood locally and burn it on-site. Be aware that specific sites within Johnson Creek will remain closed during the off-season, while sites 41 to 55 are open throughout the winter.
Boat launch fees should be paid at the vault at the front of the park. The park is set to be fully open from April 1st. The help desk can be reached at (580) 924-7316 for additional assistance or inquiries. Overall, it is an excellent Lake Texoma camping destination.
