When visiting Lake Texoma, there are countless ways to be entertained outdoors.  There are bike riding, hiking, fishing, swimming, boating, and water sports options.  There’s even golfing and a lot of it. This guide features the Top 10 Best Lake Texoma golf courses.

The Lake Texoma area is full of excellent courses, just waiting to challenge you! Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned golfer, you’ll find a course to love on our list below.

The courses on this list aren’t too far from the lake, and almost all offer carts and beverages to make your experience as relaxing and fun as it was at the lake. 

These courses are full of challenges and excitement and are not listed in any particular order.

Buncombe Creek Golf Course

Buncombe Creek Golf Course, located on the Oklahoma side of Lake Texoma at 16405 Brumley Drive in Kingston, Oklahoma, is a family-owned, public 9-hole golf course built in 2001.

You can expect to encounter tree line fairways, elevation changes, and strategically placed greens around water hazards to challenge you. 

The course has 3,024 playable yards and features a par of 36, a putting area, a driving range, practice greens, and carts. Green fees are $20-$30 depending on the date and time one visits. The course even offers a Senior Men’s Scramble on Wednesday mornings.

Tishomingo Golf Course

Another one of the Lake Texoma golf courses you should consider is Tishomingo Golf Course, located at 3600 Golf Course Rd in Tishomingo was opened in 1929.  It is a 9-hole, golf-only facility with a course length of 3,187 yards.  The course has a par of 36 and is located along Pennington Creek. 

It’s a semi-private course with some hills but nothing extreme, making for a pleasant walk. Green fees are between $20-$34 depending on the day of the week. 

Chickasaw Pointe Golf Course

Chickasaw Pointe Golf Course can be found at 12428 Chickasaw Pointe Rd in the Pointe Vista development in Kingston, Oklahoma, along the Lake Texoma shoreline.

The 18-hole course opened in 2010, boasts a 7,085-yard Championship layout of beautiful lake views and soft hills.  It has Bermuda grass fairways and Champion Ultra Dwarf greens. 

With a par of 72, four sets of tees, a pro shop, and a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch, it is easy to see why it is rated the second-best public golf course in Oklahoma.

Green fees are $25-$69, depending on the holes played and what days of the week.  The course offers senior and junior discounts.  

Winstar

Winstar Casino and Resort offers two championship 18-hole golf courses on 350 acres.  Located at 10813 Pro Shop Road in Thackerville, Oklahoma, the Scissortail course, which is the most challenging of the two, has 4,843 to 7,192 playable yards, while the Redbud course offers 4,968 to 7,116 playable yards.  Both courses offer Tifsport fairways and MiniVerde Bermuda greens.

Also located here is the Winstar Golf Academy, which helps golfers of all skill levels fine-tune their game with several different technologies. 

Onsite at the resort, don’t miss the 10,000 sq ft clubhouse, which offers a bar and grill for hungry golfers and a pro shop for all your golfing needs.

Green fees vary between $45-$85 depending on the day and time of the week one visits.  There are discounted rates for senior and junior golfers.

Tanglewood

The Tanglewood Resort is located at 290 Tanglewood Circle in Lake Texoma on the Texas side. It offers a private 18-hole Championship golf course designed by none other than Arnold Palmer himself. 

The course is 7,000 yards of luxurious Bermuda fairways and is the first course in the country to install the eco-friendly Diamond Zoysia on its greens. 

Green fees vary between $30 and $66 depending on the day and time of the week one visits.  Keep in mind collared shirts are preferred. Private lessons are also available at Tanglewood. 

Turtle Hill Golf Course

Turtle Hill Golf Course in North Texas, located at 7708 N FM 373, is a scenic 18-hole public golf course nestled just outside the German city of Muenster, Texas.

The course has 6,510 playable yards and a par of 72. The course starts unassuming but becomes more challenging as you even offer a par 3 No. 11, often described as the most beautiful par 3 in Texas. 

Green fees are very reasonable at $15-$40, which is probably why, in 2008, the course was named the 18th “Most Economical Course” in Texas. There are discounted rates for senior and junior players. 

“The Turtle” also has a pro shop, practice facilities, and pre-packaged food if you get hungry.  Unique to this golf course, they also offer locally made German sausage produced in the nearby city of Muenster. 

Stone Creek Country Club

Stone Creek Country Club is at 2200 Club House Dr in Sherman, Texas.  Stone Creek is a public 18-hole championship golf course consisting of 7,428 yards with a par of 72.  The club was opened in 2009. 

The grounds are well-designed and offer some of the most beautiful landscapes in the area.  The course has elevated tee boxes and greens, sand, a creek, and three ponds that will add to the difficulty and overall enjoyment of the game. 

Stone Creek Country Club also has a pro shop with all the latest technology to help improve your game.  All active members receive additional discounts on items at the pro shop.

Rock Creek Golf Course

Rock Creek Golf Course is a private 18-hole championship course located at 21400 FM 901 North in Gordonville, Texas.

The course landscaping consists of bentgrass greens, 100-year-old oak trees, natural streams,  and Tifway 419 Bermuda for fairways and roughs.

The front nine of this course opened in 2011 and are considered more forgiving than the back nine.  The back nine, which were the original nine when the course opened in 2009, are noticeably more challenging.

The club does enforce a dress code consisting of no denim and the requirement of a collared shirt.  Membership information can be found on their website.  The resort provides a clubhouse, restaurant, and pro shop. 

Gainesville Municipal Golf Course

The Gainesville Municipal Golf Course is located at 2240 Weber Drive in Gainsville, Texas.  The public course has been open since 1956 and is a beautiful choice for players at all levels.

The course features 6,432 yards and a par of 70. You’ll be welcomed by a beautiful, natural terrain that offers sand traps and water hazards to challenge and excite you. 

The green fees are $24-$30, depending on your visit date and time.  Gainsville Municipal Golf Course does offer discounted rates for senior and junior golfers. Onsite, there are a Pro Shop and practice facilities. 

Woodlawn Country Club

The public golf course at the Woodlawn Country Club, located at 4046 Woodlawn Rd in Denison, Texas, is simple but not a cakewalk.  The 18-hole course opened in 1916 and has rolling, tree-lined fairways and a few holes with water obstacles.  This golf course offers 6,405 playable yards and has a par of 71. 

The country club has a restaurant that is open to the public.  The dress code is proper golf attire, and green fees range between $33-$38 depending on the date and time you visit.
